Dear Members and Friends of WEB Baltimore:

As the new year approaches, we are excited to tell you about some changes in the Baltimore Chapter of WEB. We believe we have some terrific sessions planned!

First, we are pleased to announce that we have several new steering committee members and offices. The current committee members are listed at the end of this email.

The committee has decided to try something new this year. Our meeting venue has changed to the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel. Additionally, we will be having some morning sessions and some lunchtime sessions. This will allow us to keep costs down which we hope will allow more participation.

The new committee has been hard at work developing program ideas for the upcoming year. We will be starting the year with a 2-part series on Value Based Purchasing in Benefits. On January 7, Guy D'Andrea and Allison Doyle of Discern will discuss the concepts of value based purchasing and alternatives it offers to the fee-for-service model of health care reimbursement. Our February meeting will be a follow up of this with representation from the medical directors of each of the major carriers in the area discussing efforts in this arena. Both of these sessions will be morning sessions.

Other topics on the list for this year include wellness, health care reform, retirement plans, and dependent audits. We are also hoping to have a ½ day session in the fall covering a variety of benefit related topics. Watch for our meeting announcements for more details.
