About the Cleveland Chapter of WEB
Overview
Programs presented by the Cleveland chapter of WEB feature an interactive panel of benefits professionals (from large and small employers, law firms, providers, and consulting firms), who each bring a different perspective on important, practical issues faced by today's benefits community. The Cleveland chapter is now the largest WEB chapter in the country. Opportunities for employee benefits professionals to exchange ideas and information through our educational programs and networking abound in the Cleveland chapter.
The Cleveland chapter of WEB generally meets on the third Thursday of the month from September through May. Occasionally, we meet on other days, though, so check the schedule.
Our morning programs begin with registration and continental breakfast and your first networking opportunity at 7:30 a.m. The presentation is from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., with questions/answers from 9:00 - 9:15 a.m. Several programs, including the Annual Legal and Regulatory Update, are scheduled for two hours, from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m., with questions/answers from 10:00 -10:15 a.m.

On November 19, 2009, we'll have a late afternoon program followed by a Social Event at Pickwick & Frolic in downtown Cleveland. Our speaker will be Dr. Michael Roizen, the renowned co-author of You: The Owner's Manual. His topic will be You: The Benefits Manager's Manual.
On June 3, 2010, Benefits Boot Camp will be back by popular demand. This half-day educational program is designed for those professionals who are newer to the area of employee benefits. It is meant to provide a broad and solid understanding of basic employee benefits design, administration and legal compliance matters. Continuing Education Credit
Application for legal continuing education credit will be made for all programs in the 2009-2010 program year. Application for continuing education credit for insurance licensing will be made for most programs. All of our programs are intended to satisfy continuing education requirements for accounting (CPE) and HRCI recertification hours (SHRM). As applicable, additional information about continuing education credit will be included with the notice and registration form for each program. An additional $15 processing fee applies to nonmembers seeking continuing education credit, when applicable.

New Scholarship Program
We understand that a number of our members have been impacted by the unusual economic downturn of 2008 and 2009. In support of those who have temporarily lost their employment as a result of this downturn, WEB Cleveland has developed a Scholarship Program which will subsidize the attendance and parking cost for up to four meetings during the program year. The Chapter's Scholarship funds are limited and preference will be given to longer service, more active members. For details on the Scholarship Program, click here: WEB CLEVELAND 2009-2010 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. To apply, click here: WEB CLEVELAND 2009-2010 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM.
Additionally, at the National level, WEB has an Associate membership level which reduces an unemployed member's annual dues from $175 to $75. It is our hope that active Cleveland chapter WEB members who have been temporarily displaced can stay active in WEB through the combination of an Associate membership and utilization of our new Scholarship Program.
