WEBA Awards Nominations Due by February 18, 2005

The Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB) kicks off its 2005 Excellence in Benefits Awards (WEBA) Program, sponsored by The Hartford, with a call for nominations. Entries must be submitted by Friday, February 18, 2005.

The WEBA Awards will be presented at a luncheon on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza in Chicago, IL. The WEBA Luncheon will be held in conjunction with WEB's 2005 Annual National Benefits Solutions Conference, April 14-15, 2005.

Awards will be presented in three categories: Innovation in Benefits; Achievement in Benefits Service; and Friend of the Benefits Community. Get your copy of the nomination form (PDF, WORD).

"The 2005 WEBA Awards offer recognition opportunities for individuals recent to the benefits profession as well as those with a long distinguished career," notes Kathy Lazar, WEBA Chair. Lazar is an attorney with Jones Day in Cleveland, Oh.

The WEBA salutes individuals for their visionary leadership and accomplishment within the employee benefits community. Three awards will be presented.

  • The Innovation in Benefits Award recognizes an individual who is employed either by a plan sponsor, service provider, or a plan sponsor/service provider consultant team, who design and implement a particularly visionary employee benefits program. This award is presented for program implementation from October 1, 2003 through December 31, 2004.
  • The Achievement in Benefits Service Award honors an individual for his or her distinguished career in the employee benefits profession over a period of 15 years or more. Eligible recipients will be employed by either a plan sponsor or service provider.
  • The Friend of the Benefits Community Award salutes an individual who, through long-standing public service, has strengthened the commitment of government and corporate America with respect to employee benefits. This award recognizes an individual's service in a congressional, legislative, or regulatory capacity.
