Houston Chapter Offers CEUs
"I am happy to report that, through the diligent efforts of our VP, Nancy Gilbert, the Houston WEB Chapter will now be offering continuing education credits for HR professionals at our monthly meetings," says Bill Fisher, chapter president. "This added benefit for HR professionals will make our monthly meetings only that much more valuable to our members and their guests."
The chapter contacted the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) to obtain approval for its March program, "Technology in the Insurance Industry: The Evolution of the Internet and Beyond." Based on a review of WEB's program description, HRCI awarded 1.5 re-certification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR re-certification. HRCI is the credentialing affiliate founded by the Society for Human Resource Management. The certifications designate the Professional in Human Resouces (PHR) and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Nancy, who is vice president of Fayez Sarofim & Co., is working to expand the HRCI approval. That would enable the Houston chapter to use the "approved for credit" seal on all its workshops and seminars.
The following language can be used with the HRCI credit seal: "This program has been approved for ___ recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HRCI homepage at www.hrci.org."
