Madison, Wisconsin Chapter
Welcome to another educational year in the world of employee benefits, and, more specifically, to another season of WEB meetings. Your steering committee has put together another exciting list of programs for the upcoming year, and I encourage you to put the meetings on your calendar right away.
Here is the meeting schedule for the upcoming year:
September 25, 2007 - Dinner Meeting
Attorney Todd Martin from the law firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C. will lead a discussion on the final 409A regulations that take effect on January 1, 2008. This program will provide an overview of the requirements for non-qualified deferred compensation plans and practical information on what you will need to do to comply.
October 2007 - date and time TBD
We are working on scheduling a meeting with a representative from the IRS. More information to come shortly!
November 15, 2007 - Lunch Meeting
Attorney Brian Anderson with the law firm of DeWitt Ross & Stevens, S.C. will lead a discussion of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and its implications for plan sponsors and practitioners.
December 6, 2007 - Lunch Meeting
Cindy Van Bogaert from the Boardman law firm will lead a discussion on controlled groups and affiliated service groups as they relate to qualified plan issues.
January 2008 - Lunch Meeting, date TBD
Gail Olsen from the law firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C. will lead a discussion on COBRA issues.
February 13, 2008 - Lunch Meeting
Joan McDonagh, Manager, 401(k) Technical Resources, Great-West Retirement Services and Emjay, and Michael Jerrett, Retirement Plan Consultant with Northwestern Mutual, will lead a discussion around plan expenses in the qualified plan market.
March 6, 2008 - Dinner Meeting
Joan Gucciardi, MSPA, CPC, President of Gucciardi Benefit Resources, Inc., will provide an update on a retirement plan topic of interest to our group.
March, 2008 - Lunch Meeting, date TBD
A speaker to be announced.
April 8, 2008 - Lunch Meeting
Jeff Hawes from Pharmaceutical Strategies Group will lead a discussion on pharmacy benefits.
Dinner meetings are typically held at The Madison Club, 5 E. Wilson St., Madison, and begin at 6:00 p.m. In addition, we will be hosting a cocktail reception prior to each of our dinner meetings starting at 5:30 p.m. Lunch meetings are typically held at the lower level conference center in the US Bank building, in downtown Madison, and begin at noon.
Meeting Costs
Dinner meetings:
The rate for members is $35; the guest rate is $50.00.
Lunch meetings:
The rate for members is $20.00; the guest rate is $30.00.
