About the Program
Join us for an introduction to multiemployer (Taft-Hartley) plans for lawyers and benefit plan professionals. Topics covered include:

The learning objective of this program is to help attorneys and other employee benefits professionals and their advisors learn the basics of multiemployer plans (also known as Taft-Hartley plans), how to apply fiduciary principles to trustees' real operational decisions, recognize DOL enforcement priorities and identify risk areas, and evaluate the practical impact of recent court cases.

Meet the Speaker
Sara J. Van Dyke, Esq. Partner, Blitman & King LLP
Sara is a senior ERISA attorney at Blitman & King and a member of WEB’s New York chapter Steering Committee. She has significant experience providing advice regarding both Taft-Hartley and single-employer benefit plans. Prior to joining Blitman & King in 2025, Sara practiced for ten years at a small union-side law firm in New York City.
Sara advises fiduciaries of Taft-Hartley pension, defined contribution and welfare plans on regulatory compliance, fiduciary matters, plan design and documentation, investments, claims, vendor arrangements, and day-to-day plan administration, including QDRO review. Sara advises Boards of Trustees at regular and special meetings and works with Fund Administrators and other plan professionals to implement Board directives. She has implemented RFPs for service providers, advised regarding regulatory audits, and obtained favorable determination letters, including for real estate holding companies. In addition, Sara advises union entities, businesses and executives on compensation matters such as employment and severance agreements, and restrictive covenants.
CLE & Financial Aid for New York Attorneys
This program is approved for 1 hour of CLE credit for attorneys licensed in the State of New York.
Special pricing is available to New York attorneys seeking New York CLE who: (i) are unemployed or on unpaid leave; or (ii) earn less than $50,000 a year. Please note that the rules require you to apply for financial aid in advance of each event you plan to attend.
